ITINERARY

On the mountain peak touching the sky

MONTE BRÈ SUMMIT > BRÈ > BRÈ > CRUS VIEWPOINT > MONTE BOGLIA > CAPANNA ALPE BOLLA > DENTI DELLA VECCHIA > CAPANNA PAIROLO > CIMADERA

The route described here certainly requires good fitness and well-trained legs, but in return you’ll get to enjoy a unique experience at high altitude, on the crest of the peaks adjacent to Monte Brè.

The excursion starts right from the funicular station at the top of Monte Brè, continuing in the direction of Brè village. Cross the characteristic centre of Brè along its themed path; art lovers should pay a visit to the Wilhelm Schmid Museum. The itinerary continues up the Materone to reach the top of Monte Boglia at an altitude of 1,516 meters above sea level after a challenging climb; from there, you can enjoy a far-reaching, 360° view of the entire surrounding area. Resume your hike towards Piano di Scagn, down a descent adjacent to the Alpe Bolla (you can get to this destination via a short detour). Resume the route towards the next stage, the amazing and renowned Denti della Vecchia, an unmissable destination that attracts numerous climbing enthusiasts to Ticino every year. The route then winds along a path through the woods, which takes you to the Pairolo hut: the ideal place for a final break before the last leg of this excursion. To complete the itinerary, in fact, you head down a dirt road to Cimadera, a characteristic village located at 1100 m in the heart of the Val Colla.

Alongside this excursion, there is also the additional option of the Lugano Trekking tour: you set out right from Brè village and have the option of staying overnight, ideally at the Capanna Pairolo hut or at the Capanna Alpe Bolla hut as a valid alternative.
