ITINERARY

The south side of monte Brè, between the summit and the lake

MONTE BRÈ SUMMIT > BRÈ > RUVIGLIANA > SAN MICHELE PARK > CASSARATE

For anyone in the mood for a leisurely descent with hardly any climbs, this route is the right choice. What makes this route special is that it runs through the area bounded on one side by Lake Lugano and on the other by the summit of Monte Brè.  You can start your hike by setting out from the latter. Then continue in the direction of Brè village, to immerse yourself in the characteristic artistic decorations that make it unique. A visit to the museum dedicated to Wilhelm Schmid is also recommended.

From this point, you can resume the descent along the hiking trail immersed in the woods towards Ruvigliana. Go through the village of Ruvigliana until you reach the panoramic San Michele Park located near Castagnola. Here you can access the terrace, from which you can enjoy a unique view of the Gulf of Lugano. Finally, finish your excursion by taking the last descent, which will lead you to the Cassarate station.
